DG-000 | Intro Compentency Framework

This assignment helped me getting used to competency centred learning. Weekly lectures assignments and presentations on one of the competencies forced us to begin working and gain awareness on all the competencies. The assignment really gave me insight on the importance of the competencies –make study structured and forces to become wider oriented- and made me use it the whole semester. DG-000 also gave me insight on the importance of documenting and reflecting. For more information on my competency development, go to COMPETENCIES.

DG-590 | Disruptive Business Processes

Competencies: SCA, DBP, DRP, UFP

I chose this assignment, because I want to develop the competency Designing Business processes, since it’s not easy to develop within a project. And because I think a designer should know what is needed to make something profitable and not let someone steal your ideas without you having a share in it. I personally don’t know a lot of business so I wanted to make sure I developed this competency

The assignment was even better and more useful than I expected it to be. By discussing examples of companies and products that became successful and discuss and present some articles, we gained a lot of knowledge about disruptive business. Questions like what makes society change and what makes something innovative? Also what was nice during the discussions, was that there was no right or wrong, just opinions, this encouraged me to think and form an opinion.

At the end we had to write an essay on a disruptive subject. This forced me to practice my essay writing and made me think of what was disruptive.

The feedback on my essay and my attitude during the assignment were both positive. I needed some time to really join the discussions, but a part of that good participation. The advice and lesson I got was to keep on exploring and forming my opinion on ways to merge business and design and apply these in my projects. This is something I am surely going to do.
