DG508 | Co-Creation
My goals with choosing Co-Creation laid upon getting known with the business model canvas, improving my presenting skills and looking at design in a different way.
During this assignment I learned to recognize all kinds of co-creation and co-design elements in models of companies, working with the tools ‘Board of Innovation’, ‘Cmap-Tools’ and the business canvas of Ostenwalder. By applying co-creation elements to a own idea -which was the final assignment of this assignment- I learned to set up a model myself and think of a business model that suited that idea. This therefor, has shown me a new way of ideation.
Presenting throughout the assignment has made me improve upon my confidence in presenting and made me more capable of communicating my ideas to others. Though I think I still have to improve upon making videos.
I have already implemented what I have learned of this assignment in my own project, by means of a business model and a canvas model. The added value can be noticed immediately and therefor it is proven to me that this assignment has his effects. The elements of co-creation are not yet taking in to practise yet, but I think they will come in handy later on.
Overall, this assignment has helped me to think better about involving users in the design process. I am now able to see, implement and create co-creation elements and determine how business models of companies look like by researching the companies. This systemic thinking will help me in thinking ahead.
Reflection on Feedback
The main feedback I got from my assignor is that I had to interact more within the assignment. This was because I was not confident with my homework, I wasn't sure if I understood the theory readings well. In the future I will try to stand up for myself and take a more active role.
The feedback that my intonation and tempo in the video can go up, is something I agree upon, and was aware of myself. The end product was disappointing for me too. Therefor once again the importance of improving upon animated videos has shown.
When we started to implement the theory I started to interact more and that lead to an advice I am going to focus on next semester. I seem to learn more by applying theoretical information. Being able to learn solely from theoretical readings is a goal for next year.
DG209 | Creative Programming
As a means of being able to communicate with others on the matter of programming I did set the goal this semester to work on my programming and working with Arduino. As I wrote in my PDP I intended to choose Creative Electronics first, though due to recap with other students I found out almost no writing code would be learned in that assignment. Also next year I want to do the assignment Creative Apps, for which you need Creative Programming.
For the assignment we were empowered to get to know Processing as being computer programming. The challenges we got were basic programming with a creative and design-oriented focus. For this assignment I made a static poster and an interactive game, which controlled by a combination of Aduino and Processing.
With these challenges I learned the basics of Processing and being able to implement this in other settings. With these basics I think I will be able to take my designs to a higher technical level and will be able to communicate easier with other professions by means of programming language. I can see now that programming is more than programming on its own, it is also a new perspective in thinking.
Though there is still a lot of improvement necessary because I have basic skills only. If I really want be able to use processing in my projects I have to keep getting better at thinking on a programming level. I will do this by a way of practise. I found out there are way more ways to use Processing and I want to explore these options. For example use processing for data analysis and applications in websites. I will learn by tutorials on internet. This way of learning is proven to work for me since I used it a lot for this assignment also.
