B1.2 Showcase Pleun Heeres

I would describe myself as a willing and helping person. I try motivate others by staying positive. At the same time I can be a hardworking team player, that completes what he starts. Throughout the process I try to keep a professional drive to achieve the best. A downside to this is that my positive attitude can become a negative one due to perfectionism.

 

Looking back at the past you could say I am a problem solver, who can think out of the box. Seeing the importance of things quickly and knowing what has to be improved upon, is something I am good at. By tweaking and improving upon objects I try to make living conditions better and more fun. This doesn’t have to be solely a material experience.

 

However, I prefer applying rather than solely working on theory. I am a hands-on designer and student. I see value in things when working them out to something touchable. This is a good thing to do, because you can easily convey your thought with others. Though in the future I also want to become better in explaining by theorem and speech. I think that proves a higher level of intelligence.

 

All my life I have been intrigued by sports and teaching. During a gap-year as a ski-instructor, I have showed myself that I can teach others and I found out that I like to teach. This semester I chose a project that focused on sports innovation. It was a good experience and proved to be a field where my future will lay. However, I want to explore other fields next semester.

 

This will help avoid me from having a scope or tunnel vision on one subject in my Bachelor. I want to become a designer that can adapt to every situation. A broad knowledge of subjects is needed for this matter. Resulting in becoming an all-rounder in as many fields as possible. Following the newest trends and being ahead of these trends is needed, to become an innovative designer.

 

Self-directed is a big keyword for becoming an unique designer. Industrial Design has, in my opinion, the best educational model to become this unique designer. Therefor I know I am at the right place here.
